So, here I am- entering the third week of the GMTP… it’s been quite an adventure so far. The first week was a lot of “on boarding”- learning about insurance plans, receiving computers and ID cards, and getting to know how the company is organized. Hmmm, what else? Oh, the whole team flew to Chicago for training at one of the top consulting frims where we learned about digital media and got briefed on our first innovations project. And we met with the heads of different departments to address and brainstorm solutions to branding issues. Coming from an engineering background, it was a real treat to learn more about marketing and see how many different factors need to be considered to create a brand. And we had an awesome happy hour… also attended by top management. We did other stuff too, like exploring the area around our hotel, heads up, there are lots of delicious restaurants in St Louis, on top of a free zoo and a gorgeous park. Also, the hotel has a movie theater. And a Sunday brunch with a gazillion tasty little treats. And a pool. And free laundry once a week. True story, no joke. I’m basically being spoiled by my job. I love it! Talk about enjoying your work, eh? 😉
And, get this- it actually got better the next week when trainees from all around the world came to St Louis for the global induction! It was pretty baller, I don’t even know where to begin… let’s just start on Monday. Speech from zone president? Check. Speech from CEO? Check. Speech from VP of Finance? Check. Awesome coordinators who make the day run like clock-work? Yup, we had them in spades! As the week progressed we learned more and more, there was so much information, it was almost like trying to drink from a fire hydrant! We had presentations from leaders in zythology, People & IBS, Supply, Brewing & Innovation, Sales, Marketing, Procurement… you name it! But, it definitely wasn’t all work, getting to know the other trainees were one of the best parts of the week. In addition to being some of the most motivated and hard working people out there, our global counterparts are also a lot of fun. Some highlights of the week included: Volunteering at a Cardinals baseball game, where we raised money for the Boys and Girls Club of St Louis, learning the proper way to pour Stella Artois (the classiest beer ever!!!), and, of course, my personal favorite, working on a branding project with people from Belgium, Brazil, Argentina, China, and Canada. It was an intense week, but soooo worth it!
Now, you might be wondering (or maybe you’re not, but I’m going to assume you are :P) what does week #3 have in store? You’ll just have to wait for my next blog post, hehehe, don’t let the suspense get to you… at least not too much. 🙂
Until next time… Toonies signing off!
